The DiSTI Corporation
In-Vehicle HMI

UX / HMI Solutions Architect

Solutions Engineer

When I started at The DiSTI Corporation it was in their solutions engineering department (it used to be called support engineering but I thought 'solutions' sounded better and it stuck).

The tool we developed, GL Studio, blended a graphical editor with a custom coding window to export runnable OpenGL software.

It's original use case was to create photorealistic cockpit flight controls in simulators but as embedded processors became more powerful I would assist engineers around the world integrate their own custom 3D multitouch control systems into vehicles like the car breaking the land speed record, to undersea ROVs at the bottom of the ocean, various luxury automotive manufacturers, to military helicopters hovering above the earth, and a few Virgin Galactic and Boeing craft going beyond the reach of Earth's atmosphere.

In each case it was coming up to speed quickly and identifying ways that we could more closely work together to understand the complexities of each part of a dynamic system to identify a solution moving forward.

As I continued with the company I began to take inbound sales requests in addition to my engineering tasks. I then developed and transitioned into a role where I was handling opportunities from opening to close for the entire North American automotive market.
